Some of you may know that we sell our jewelry on Amazon Handmade. Selling on Amazon has its pluses and minuses. We are laughing today because this morning we received an Amazon notification targeting our Flytrap Jewelry designs. Apparently in order to sell any “insect trapping device” we must complete an online training and have our pesticide products approved by the EPA. Although we know it is simply a robotic search word mistake we must resolve this or Amazon will deactivate all of our Flytrap Jewelry and most likely issue us bad metrics for non-compliance. We have opened a case with Amazon to request that they exempt us from the EPA requirements. Never a dull moment!
Although we maintain a 5 star review on Amazon Handmade, because of their timed shipping targets, we are often stressed in getting a customized design completed and shipped within their expectations. The very few times that we have been a day late on a shipment, we get “spanked” by Amazon and they take away our ability to offer priority or express shipping options for 30 days. We are also not allowed to communicate with a customer directly and cannot enter any URL’s. I understand that they don’t want customers purchasing from a web site other than Amazon but I frequently get questions from customers that would be easiest answered with a link to my website. Big Brother Amazon is always watching!
