My friend at the post office keeps pet Tarantulas and Scorpions and we share an arachnid connection when I am at her U.S.P.S. counter mailing packages. Today she gifted me the exoskeleton shed by her tarantula.

Pirate Treasure
We are busy getting our treasure together and polished for this weekend’s Nor Cal Pirate Festival. We have glued golden doubloons into a vintage “pirate chest,” washed a decaying fishing net and packed our costumes for this very fun show. It’s a terrific event, so screw on your peg leg, grab your parrot, a mate or two, and set sail this weekend for Mare Island, on the Vallejo waterfront.

My first show of the year is this weekend at Sunnyvale Art and Wine Festival, Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3. We are busily polishing the jewelry, loading the van and getting ready for Show Time! I recently had a phone call from the producers of Level Up, a Cartoon Network live action series, requesting an overnight shipment of several styles of my bronze ear cuffs. My French Twist Ear Cuff was one of four designs that they chose; to be worn by “Amazonian Women” in a future episode of the series to be aired this Fall. They gave me a credit card number and the studio’s Fed Ex shipping number and the deal was done. If you happen upon this episode, to be aired in the fall, I would appreciate a link to it!
This custom Australian boulder opal, platinum dragon ring just took flight. It took many months to collaborate in choosing the opals and creating this design….but Lisa’s Dragon flew away with her this weekend. The ring fit perfectly; she was delighted and I am beginning work on two other custom pieces for her.

Platypus Wax Carving
I’ve just finished a wax for a new Platypus charm. Two summers ago, John and I traveled to Australia in search of adventure and the illusive platypus. Although we saw koalas, kookaburras, kangaroos and cassowaries, we never spotted a platypus. After many google image searches, this is my interpretation of the quintessential platypus. The platypus is not as cuddly as most imagine and the males have venomous spurs on their hind feet. This image is of my original wax carving but the sterling silver version of this charm will be available in mid May.
